Documentary dedicated to one of the greatest Spanish designers of the 20th century, Cristóbal Balenciaga, from his beginnings in Getaria, San Sebastián, Madrid, and Barcelona to his triumphs in Paris in the 1940s, 1950s, and 1960s, culminating with the closure of his firm in 1968 due to its difficult fit in the ready-to-wear world. However, his work philosophy and creative process have influenced 21st-century fashion. A couturier with a reserved and discreet personality, he led a family life whose friends, clients, and colleagues were, until now, little known.

Synopsis:

Balenciaga, Remaining in the Ephemeral explores the life and work of Cristóbal Balenciaga, guided by those who knew him and learned from him—Hubert de Givenchy, Sonsoles Díaz de Rivera, and Emanuel Húngaro—and with the help of renowned fashion authorities such as Pamela Galbin, Lesley Ellis Miller, Myra Walker, and Catherine Join-Dieterle. Meanwhile, his disciple Juan Mª Emilas creates, in the purest Balenciaga technique, one of his signature suits, designed in 1954, which is still fully enduring today.
